Profiles & accounts
A profile is a saved OpenAI account login. Each one keeps its own auth and config, so you can switch accounts without logging out and orchestrate Codex App windows by profile.
Create a profile
- Click Add Profile.
- Name the profile so you can recognize it later (Work, Personal, Client).
- Complete the OAuth login in your browser.
Switch profiles
Switch the active account from the sidebar, the tray menu, the quick switcher (Cmd/Ctrl + K), the CLI, or Codex Apps. The selected profile becomes the account Codex CLI uses next.
Refresh login
When a profile's login expires, click Refresh to re-authenticate without deleting the profile or its config.
Profile limits
- Trial: unlimited profiles for 7 days.
- Pro: unlimited profiles after the trial.
Move profiles to another device Trial + Pro
Working across machines? Cloud Sync pushes your profiles and config from your main machine so a second machine with the CLI can pull them and pick up where you left off during the trial or with Pro.
Duplicate account warning
When two profiles resolve to the same OpenAI identity, CodexUse flags them, because they draw on the same rate-limit headroom. Keeping them as separate profiles will not give you more quota.
Accounts Pool and shared headroom
Accounts Pool can expose selected profiles through one local OpenAI-compatible endpoint, but it still draws on the real headroom behind those profiles. If two saved profiles are the same underlying OpenAI account, the pool cannot create extra quota by switching between them.
